Welcome to Qi, where we offer a wide variety of casual Yoga classes, courses & workshops for every level of experience and ability from beginners upwards. In addition we sell yoga mats, bags & books for your personal practice, study & enjoyment.
What should I expect? Yoga is an ancient system of spiritual and health-promoting practices that are popular in the West becasue they are gentle, easy to adapt to suit anyone -regardless of fitness/flexibility or the lack of it!- and becasue they work. You can expect to feel both calm and energised at the end of a class. People often report sleeping better, coping better with stress, confrontation and improved creativity shortly affter starting regular yoga classes. They also feel stronger, more balanced and just better in their bodies. Sounds enticing?
Intro Offer of $25 for your first 5 classes: You can try out any class -Yoga, Meditation or Pilates- across our 3 Qi centres to find a style and teacher you like. Valid for 10 days from your first class.
On your first visit to Qi, please arrive at least 15 minutes before your class. We recommend comfortable clothing to move in & advise you not to eat for at least 2 hours before class.
Where should I start? All our timetables show the level of the class (Beginners, general, Level or level2.) We strongly recommend starting out in Beginners classes on the Timetable. Ideally, you should try and complete one of our regular 6 week "Yoga Beginners" courses before moving onto other styles and levels of yoga.
If you are interested in the flowing Ashtanga or Vinyasa classes, (the most challenging & dynamic style of yoga that we offer) we recommend laying a strong foundation through the Ashtanga Beginners Courses which run regularly.
Level 1: Recommended for students with a minimum of 3 months' regular practice. Not suitable for beginners.
Level 2: Recommended for those with a minimum of 6 - 12 months regular practice in Yoga. Not suitable for beginners.
Your time at beginner level is the most important period of your study, and will establish the foundations of your future practice. Don’t be in a hurry to ‘move up’ a level. Many experienced students take level 1 & 1-2 classes out of choice, as working with the ‘fundamentals’ of yoga practice is always challenging.
Take your time, & you will find that you progress safely & steadily. Practice & patience are essential. Challenge yourself, but never strain yourself!
