Powerhouse personal training is a small exercise studio offering a pleasant, quiet non-competitive exercise environment.

We are a specialist Pilates studio, which means you know you are getting the best instruction possible and that you will be learning the Pilates method correctly.

The proliferation of Pilates in the fitness industry today, means that many people teaching the method are under qualified. At Powerhouse, our instructors ensure that you get the full benefit from the exercises.

Sessions are shaped to suit your body, capabilities and goals. You receive personal attention at all times. Our aim is to help you achieve your highest physical potential whatever your age and fitness level - from sedentary to super fit.

How do I start?
Call or email the studio to book into a beginners workshop or session.

What to Wear?
Tights or shorts with a tight-fitting top. Socks or bare feet. You do not need to bring a mat or towel. Shower and dressing room facilities are available.

The Pilates Method
The Pilates method is a unique system of resistance training, designed to strengthen,elongate and align the body. Pilates emphasises focus, control and co-ordination. It is a challenging, energising and rewarding alternative to conventional fitness regimes.

The focus of the work is on developing what Joseph Pilates called the "powerhouse" - the abdomen, buttocks, lower back and thighs - as the body's centre of strength and control. The is why it has become increasingly recommended by health professionals as a treatment for lower back pain.

Joseph Pilates developed his unique exercise system in the 1920's. Born in Germany, Pilates began experimenting with resistance exercise using bed springs while interned in a British prisoner-of-war camp in World War I. He later moved to New York, setup a studio and spent decades designing the equipment and exercises used today.
