About Pilates
We have Joseph Pilates, a native German, to thank for the method of body conditioning that bears his name. In many ways ahead of his time, Joseph developed the Pilates Method over 70 years ago. His approach was unique in that it emphasized building a strong Powerhouse, or core (deep abdominals, deep spinal muscles, and pelvic floor), to allow the body an intrinsic support that minimises the risk of injury, even while performing challenging movements.
Pilates really gained popularity after it was discovered by the international ballet community, who needed strength without bulk. Now, people from all walks of life and all ages flock to Pilates.
The Six Principles of Pilates are:
* Breathing
* Precision
* Centering
* Flowing movement
* Control
* Concentration
Who benefits from Pilates?
Who wouldn't benefit from Pilates?
Whether you are pregnant, an elite athlete, exercising for the first time in your life, recovering from injury, or looking to tone your body, Pilates has something for everyone.
At our Studio, we offer supervised exercise for those who are fit and looking for a challenging workout and rehabilitation clients who would benefit from low impact and safe, graded exercise. We tailor programs to suit your individual needs and goals.
What results will I see?
You will not only see results, but feel results. You will:
* Develop a strong abdomen, lower back, and buttocks
* Improve your posture and flexibility
* Learn breath awareness and tension release
* Master better body control, moving efficiently from a strong and supported core
* Help prevent injury via improved body awareness
* Become leaner and stronger
What is Studio Pilates?
You may have heard of Mat Pilates, where you work through a series of exercises on the floor, perhaps with small apparatus.
Studio Pilates is different. At our studio, we use specialized equipment (the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Combo Chair, and Ladder Barrel). We can adjust the settings and tension of the springs on the equipment to change the intensity of your workout, and focus specifically on different parts of your body.
The studio equipment adds challenge and variety to your workout, and there are literally hundreds of exercises for strength, coordination and flexibility that we can show you.
We also utilize small apparatus and the Pilates Mat exercises to give you a well balanced workout.
In Studio sessions, you are fully supervised at all times by a qualified instructor, and class sizes are limited to 3-4 people per hour (in Semi Private Sessions). You can also opt for a Private Session if you want completely one-on-one attention.
In 10 sessions you will feel a difference. In 20 sessions you will see a difference. In 30 sessions, you will have a new body. Joseph Pilates
